There are some things in life that just aren’t that much fun. Perhaps working isn’t your cup of tea but you know it has to be done, or maybe it’s the weekly shop! Whatever it might be, life insurance is often something that people do not relish seeking out!
However, that doesn’t mean it’s not a useful thing to have.
In today’s blog we thought we would offer up some simple dos and don’ts for life insurance, to hopefully make the whole process of buying just a bit easier.
As we also say, do seek out independent advice if you are in any way unsure about financial products. It’s always the best thing to do when you’re uncertain…
Do make sure you shop around. There are so many brokers and life insurance deals available it’s a good idea to consider them all very carefully.
Do make sure you check the exclusions on any life insurance. It’s really important to make sure you understand what you are buying.
Do take the time to read your documentation when you take out life insurance. Don’t just receive it and shove it in a drawer and forget about it.
Do ensure you review your life insurance regularly. This is more to do with change of life circumstances really but can include a change of address, change of bank details, going from single to married or even having children.
Don’t rush in. Make sure you fully understand the product you are buying.
Don’t assume something’s covered without looking at the small print.
Don’t assume your policy includes critical illness cover or funeral cover. Some plans do include this but there are plenty that don’t.
Don’t buy the first produce you see. It may be great but without taking the time to check you could end up buying a product that doesn’t fit your requirements.
Don’t be pressured in to buying life insurance. If it’s not for you don’t buy it!
There are hundreds of different life insurance products out there and it can seem very confusing but if you take the time to understand what you are buying then there’s no reason you can’t enjoy the cover you want.
