Sometimes when it’s cold and rainy outside the best thing to do of an evening once you’ve done your chores is to sit down and enjoy a movie or two.
Now, you may be surprised to discover that there are lots of films that have some kind of insurance theme in them and maybe for good reason as the messages and subtext within them are designed to make you think.
So in today’s blog, The Cheapest Life Insurance takes a look at some popular and older movies that have some kind of insurance theme in them. Enjoy!
The Incredibles – This film was released in 2004 and stars Bob (Mr Incredible) who is an insurance agent before losing his job. He was supposed to be good at assessing risk, but wasn’t and inevitably this lead to him being fired!
Alias Jesse James – This movie was made in 1959 and is about Milford Farnsworth (played by Bob Hope) who is an insurance salesman, who unknowingly sells to the outlaw Jess James! Once he realises what he has done, Milford wants to protect his client, but Jesse James has his own ideas. This film is heralded as a classic Western comedy and perhaps features insurance comedy at its very best!
Lloyds of London – Not only are they famed in today’s world, but there was a movie made in 1936 all about this famous British insurance company. The movie was nominated for an Oscar and is actually a romance! Apparently romance and insurance actually made box-office magic in the case of this film.
Sleuth – This movie, made in 1972 stars Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier. It’s a film with a twist at the end and is about Wyke, a famous mystery writer who utilises his story telling skill to come up with an insurance fraud scheme…This film got nominated for 4 Oscars!
