Charity events – Get involved!

Today’s blog  from the Cheapest Life Insurance is going to focus on some of the charity events that are happening this year, as well as how you can get involved!

  • Macmillan Coffee morning

This is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event. How it works is people across the UK hold coffee mornings, or go to an event and donations made on the day are given to Macmillan. In 2013 £20 million was raised.

Macmillan cancer support provides medical, emotional, practical and financial support, as well as pushing for a better cancer care system.

  • Virgin Money London Marathon

The London Marathon was founded in 1981 and is now recognised as one of the major events within the sporting calendar. If there is a charity that’s close to your heart you may be able to secure a charity entry into the race on the basis that you will raise the agreed amount of money for the charity.

The Virgin Money London Marathon is on the 13th of April, so although it may be a little late to enter for this year, why not consider entering next year?

  • Prudential Ride London

The 2013 Prudential RideLondon event has become the biggest inaugural mass-participation sports event in the world and has raised over £7 million pounds for charity. The event is a two day cycling festival; all levels of cyclists participate by riding a 100 mile route and raise money for good causes.

Some of the highlights of the festival are broadcasted live on BBC TV and in the UK internationally and the event will take place on the 9th of August 2014.

  • Charity Skydiving

Lots of people who do a parachute jump decide to do so for charity. Skyline is the biggest organisers for charity jumps. They work with over 1,500 charities and will pay for your skydive in return for you raising a minimum amount for the charity you have chosen.

  • Tough Mudder

The Tough Mudder events are 10-12 miles long obstacle courses that are designed to challenge and test your ‘strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie’.

It’s all about pushing yourself to the limit and is considered a challenge rather than a race, as you will meet new people and overcome challenges together. There are a number of different locations on dates across the year.
